Eenmaal aangekomen op het eiland Catalina rond 10.00 uur, kunt u 'de muur' snorkelen, waar u een prachtig koraalrif kunt bewonderen. Daarna vaart u naar de andere kant van het eiland, naar het "aquarium", waar u aan boord van de catamaran kunt genieten van een heerlijke maaltijd.
8 hr - Ga om 9 uur aan boord van de Quetzal en zeil een uur naar het eiland Catalina. Je komt rond 10.00 uur aan, waar je "The Wall" kunt snorkelen, je zult prachtige koralen bewonderen. Daarna varen we naar de andere kant van het eiland, naar het 'Aquarium' waar u kunt genieten van een heerlijke maaltijd aan boord van de catamaran. Na de lunch heeft u tijd om te ontspannen op het strand van Catalina, te snorkelen en veel verschillende soorten vissen te zien. We vertrekken rond 15.00 uur om terug te varen naar Bayahibe. Op de terugweg nemen we onze tijd en varen we langs de kust van Casa del Campo, waar u uitleg krijgt van onze nationale gids. We eindigen de dag met een cruise op de rivier de Chavon, beroemd om zijn prachtige jungle-landschap dat in veel films wordt gebruikt!

The boat was very big! Especially since we were with no more than 15 people. Other boats were packed. But on this boat the vibe is way more relaxed and more room for everybody. The staff on the boat was super friendly and the food and drinks were great
If you're going to do a catamaran trip from Bayahibe, this is the ONLY one you should consider. We passed a number of other catamarans and they we're all jammed packed with like 50-60 people jammed sholder-to-shoulder on deck without a spot of shade. By contrast, there were maybe 14-15 people, tops, on our trip on the smaller, but beautiful, Quetzal. Plenty of room in the shade both outside on the aft deck and inside the boat. And the space up on the nets over the water on the bow between the hulls was so amazing and relaxing. If I had any complaint it would be that we never actually put the sails up, which makes sense considering the wind wasn't blowing in a favorable direction and we had a LONG trip to make, but the lack of sails didn't detract from the overall experience. From the boat, to the snorkeling, to the friendly guide and crew, to the amazing food they served, this tour was A++ all the way
This was our second trip with the company and it was just as perfect as the first trip. The thing that we really liked about this company is that they only allow small groups and it’s not a ‘party boat’ like you see everywhere. Why get absolutely blind drunk and not enjoy the superb snorkelling, scenery and wildlife? The trip is fantastic- superb crew on board and wonderful food. We highly recommend this company as you are treated like family. It was a magical day out.
Being out on open water, snorkeling with curious and friendly fish friends in addition to the group of humans I was traveling with - there is little left to be desired in a day-long excursion such as this one. From the fresh, delicious local and responsibly-sourced food to the care taken by the crew to attend the needs and accommodations of guests this was truly a refreshing and delightful experience. Local guides offered historical context while Lola, our bright and funny pro-diving guide was knowledgeable and articulate - steadfast but not heavy handed in her approach to conservation - from gently modeling taking trash up and out of the reef to replanting/homing broken coral to the more heavily impacted side of the island. It was so empowering to see and we can’t wait to bring our kids back so they can meet her and the captain and crew of the Quetzal.
This was an amazing excursion, exceeded expectations! The snorkeling was fantastic, the friendly tour guide points out specific kinds of fish and ocean life. The food was great and made fresh on the boat. The staff treats you like adults there is no micro managing. The boat was not overcrowded with people, plenty of room. I would pay to do it again in a heartbeat!
